Teaching Without Fear

Happy Teacher Appreciation Week/Day/Post!

Recently, Marvel’s superhero Daredevil has learned to appreciate teachers more, since he’s become one himself. (Technically he is an adjunct college instructor, but teaching nonetheless.)

Here is a quick preview of Mr. Murdock’s classroom instruction, along with his internal monologue about self-doubt as a teacher.

This scene presents an interesting juxtaposition, given Daredevil’s nickname as the “Man without Fear.” In the comic’s preceding pages, our fearless hero jumps off a New York high-rise onto a speeding car to stop two thieves. No sweat!

Personally, I’d prefer a classroom full of students. (Sweaty or otherwise.)

“I may have made a mistake . . .”

How many teachers have thought the same thing over the years? Which mistakes do you struggle with? Where is your self-doubt?
